Science made fun at Arnhem Wharf Primary School

12 June 2017

Chemistry demonstration organised for local students.

On Friday 19 May, children at Arnhem Wharf Primary School were treated to a special chemistry performance from a renowned scientist and TV personality.

Dr Szydlo, a teacher at Highgate School in London, performs lectures with a difference across the world and on TV to inspire young people through chemistry. His unique experiments and interactive methods for explaining how science works were well received by the young pupils.

Zoe Hudson, School Business Manager said: “The children had a fantastic morning and have been talking about it all afternoon”.

The team that is developing the Westferry Printworks site arranged the visit as part of a commitment to give back to the local community.

Sarah Hughes, Director for Mace said: “We’re really grateful to Dr Szydlo for taking his show to Arnhem Wharf Primary School and we’re looking forward to doing more over the next few years to help inspire the children in different ways”.

Engaging with the community is a big part of the site development. The team have held a number of events to help people understand the programme of work and are actively seeking opportunities to add value to the Isle of Dogs area over the next few years.

If you run a local group, charity or business and are interested in talking to Mace about support with your cause, please contact the team on 07568 350410 or westferrye14@themorrisconsultancy.co.uk
