Festive Fun at the Strafford Street Friendship Club
26 January 2018
Christmas came early in December for the local residents who attend the Luncheon Club at the Strafford Street Friendship Club every Monday.
The Westferry Printworks Development team make use of the club hall for their residents’ meetings and wanted to show their appreciation so joined them for the afternoon to celebrate the festive season.
The Club, led by Chairperson Rita Bensley, generously laid on a feast of pie and mash for lunch (with the obligatory liquer) and everyone tucked in. It was delicious! Terry the magician supplied plenty of entertainment for all the diners, with magic tricks using numerous packs of cards from deep in his pockets, and magically produced scarves and ribbons from up his sleeve and even behind peoples’ ears.
After lunch, everyone shared lots of Christmas goodies in celebration of the festivities and finished up the afternoon in true East End style, with a full house of bingo, called by Terry, and tea and cakes to complete the day. Our thanks go to the Luncheon Club for the use of the hall and we hope they enjoyed the celebrations.
